As a Novice Sister, I went by a number of different names, depending on my mood that day. Two names that I was fond of were Sister Emma Friggin' Nun and Sister Gayle Force Of Nature. I happened to settle on my current name after having a divine dinner discussion with my dear Sister Roxanne Roles. Date You Joined the Order? I officially met the Nuns during the 20 year Anniversary Street Party. I decided to volunteer at the gates that day as Cindy Lou, the Easter Seals Gurl, along with my best buddy and partner in crime, Dusty Rhodes. What is your occupation? Office Administration Date of Birth? July 2, 1976, and I'm happy to say that this makes me the Baby Sister of the SF Order at a young and pretty 25 years old. Hometown? Providence, Rhode Island. By the way kiddies, Providence means "God Like". Sr. Lola was destined to be. When did you discover your calling? Well, when Sr. Lola was just a wee boy, eight to be exact, he came to his Nana one afternoon and told her that he wanted to be a priest, just like Father Ray at. After explaining to her that Father Ray was so nice because he always gave 'Lil Lola candy, she told him to "think about it" and to talk to her later. Later that day, while watching the evening news, 'Lil Lola came up with a more brilliant plan. He was to be a ballet dancer just like Ronald Regan's son. Nana thought that this would be a splendid idea. Years went by and many things passed and came to be. One was 'Lil Lola moving to San Francisco. On his third day in our fair city, 'Lil Lola met Sr. Phyllis Stine the Fragrant, and boy does she smell good. Sr. Phyllis told 'Lil wide eyed Lola all about the Nuns. Hence a star was born. Sponsor in the Order? I came into the order under the divine guidance of my two God Sisters, Sister Reyna Terror and Sister Kitty Catalyst O.C.P. When it was my time to come into the order as a Novice Sister, I chose Sister Kitty to be my Sponsor and Mother. Why did you join the Order? Peer Pressure. All the cool kids were doing it. I really joined the order to fill the deep need to serve my community. I have always had a calling to community service but never considered it to be spiritual because I was queer, my own homophobia I guess. Moving to San Francisco helped to open my eyes by showing me healthy, spiritual queers. I wanted to be apart of that. I needed to be apart of that. After seeing what the Sisters were about, I wanted to be apart of that energy. It felt kind of like coming home. Religious Beliefs (if any)? I believe that you should always play nice with others and especially yourself. Other than that, I believe in a little of this and a little of that. Kind of a nice mix of Judaeo-Christian, Buddhist and Faerie Traditions. Major Projects with the Order?
