When Did You Discover Your Calling?
I first felt my calling back in 1995 while becoming a member of Delta Lambda Phi (a national gay fraternity made up of progressive gay, straight and bisexual men). I thought this would be a way to give back to the community and find my path in life. Well that got me though college but it was not the path for my life. A few years later I started volunteering with the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association at their local rodeos. I later ran for Miss GSGRA 2004 and won in the fall of 2003. I learned that I can walk and talk while wearing heals; who knew I could also raise money for charity.
While the rodeo was a wonderful outlet for me, I still felt like I was not on the right path. During my year as Miss GSGRA 2004, I made it a goal to bridge the gaps between groups I wanted to hang out with. I started to really get to know the Sisters and, once my year was up as Miss GSGRA, I turned my energy towards the Order. This was a group of hard working individuals who ask so little of the community but give so "F"ing much back.
