Sister Kay Thulu Sera Sera
What is your Sister Name?
Sister Kay Thulu Sera Sera
Usually I either go by Sister Kay Thulu or Sister Kay Sera Sera. Kay Thulu is an obscure nerd joke (it’s a sea monster from an old horror short story), but a lot of people had no idea what I meant, so I often use Kay Sera Sera instead.
How long have you been with the Order?
I first became an initiate in March 2014. I became a fully professed Sister in October 2016!
Where are you from?
I was born in Pennsylvania, but I have lived in the Bay Area since 1987.
How did you discover your calling?
I moved away from San Francisco to Silicon Valley in 2010 after separating from husband. When I came back to San Francisco in 2014, I wanted to do something to give back to the community I had missed so much and that had worked so hard to make my existence and safety possible
What is your ministry?
I was raised to reach out to those in need, to speak up for those are neglected, to be kind to those who grieve, and always to offer compassion to my fellow human beings.
I do a lot of our Web projects and I actively participate in our Grants programs. It's a joy and honor to help support projects that help underserved communities, protect human life, and uplift beauty and hope.
Who are your Mother and Big Sisters?
My Mother is the splendid Sister Saki Tumi.
My Big Sisters are Sister Guard N. O’Pansies and Sister Desi Love.
I am so grateful for their guidance and their sweetness!
What are your religious beliefs?
I was raised Episcopalian, and I have a tremendous amount of love and admiration for the Episcopalian church. Today, I’m perpetually unsure. The world is vast and I don’t understand it.
