Terms & Conditions of Website Use
Last Updated/Effective Date: October 21, 2026
Welcome to TheSisters.org, the official website of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. ("SPI," "we," "us," or "our"), a California nonprofit public benefit corporation.
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of our website and the information, materials, and services made available through it. By using this website, you agree to comply with these Terms to the extent an enforceable agreement is formed under applicable law.
If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the website.
1. PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE
TheSisters.org provides information about SPI's mission, history, community service, charitable activities, events, fundraising initiatives, and organizational programs.
The website also offers educational materials, archival resources, and links to independently operated organizations and services.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, information published on this website represents The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc., the San Francisco-based organization, and does not necessarily represent every independently organized house or order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence worldwide.
2. ACCEPTABLE USE
You agree to use this website lawfully and in a manner that respects the rights, safety, and access of others.
You may not:
Attempt unauthorized access to website systems, accounts, or information.
Disrupt, damage, compromise, or interfere with website operations.
Introduce malicious software or other harmful code.
Use website services to harass, threaten, defraud, or unlawfully discriminate against others.
Collect personal information about other users through unauthorized means.
Misrepresent your affiliation with SPI or use its name to imply authorization or endorsement without permission.
Infringe intellectual property rights or otherwise violate applicable law.
SPI may take reasonable action to protect its systems, users, and organizational resources from prohibited activity.
3. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise indicated, original materials published on this website, including written content, design elements, photographs, audiovisual materials, graphics, and organizational logos, are owned by SPI or used with permission.
"Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" and "Perpetual Indulgence" are trademarks of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc.
Nothing on this website grants a license to use SPI trademarks, names, or organizational branding for commercial purposes or in a manner that falsely suggests affiliation or endorsement.
Visitors may share links to publicly accessible pages and make uses of content otherwise permitted by applicable law, including relevant exceptions such as fair use.
Other reproductions, adaptations, or commercial uses of protected material may require permission from the appropriate rights holder.
For licensing or permissions inquiries, contact info@thesisters.org.
4. HISTORICAL AND ARCHIVAL MATERIALS
Our website may contain photographs, documents, publications, historical accounts, and other archival materials relating to SPI and the wider Sisters movement.
Some materials reflect the language, attitudes, contexts, or perspectives of the periods in which they were created. Their inclusion does not necessarily constitute endorsement of every historical statement or viewpoint.
We strive to provide accurate attribution and contextual information, but archival records may be incomplete, contain inaccuracies, or require further research.
Copyright and other rights in archival materials may belong to third parties. Publication for historical, documentary, or educational purposes does not necessarily place such materials in the public domain.
Individuals with questions about attribution, privacy, rights, or historical accuracy may contact SPI for review.
5. CHARITABLE DONATIONS
SPI is recognized as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Federal EIN: 94-3032120
California Charity Registration: 067775
Donations are generally tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. The deductible amount may be reduced when goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution.
Donations are voluntary. Contributions are generally nonrefundable, except where required by law or where SPI determines that a refund is appropriate.
Donations made through external platforms may also be subject to the terms, transaction procedures, and refund policies of the applicable platform.
For contribution questions, contact info@thesisters.org.
6. RECURRING DONATIONS
If you authorize a recurring donation, your selected payment method may be charged according to the amount and frequency presented during enrollment.
Recurring contributions continue according to the authorization you provide until canceled or otherwise terminated.
Cancellation procedures, payment schedules, and any applicable processing conditions should be presented through the donation platform.
Donors may contact SPI for assistance with recurring contributions, although changes to payment methods or authorizations may need to be completed directly through the applicable provider.
Cancellation does not ordinarily reverse contributions already processed.
7. EVENTS, PROGRAMS, AND REGISTRATIONS
Certain SPI events, activities, and programs may have separate registration requirements, admission conditions, participation guidelines, accessibility information, or refund policies.
Where applicable, those terms will be presented in connection with the specific event or service.
Submitting a registration or inquiry does not guarantee admission, participation, or acceptance into any program.
8. COMMUNITY SUBMISSIONS
Visitors may be invited to submit historical materials, photographs, personal stories, inquiries, or other content.
By submitting materials, you represent that you have the necessary rights or permissions to provide them and that your submission does not knowingly violate the rights of others.
Unless separate written terms explicitly provide otherwise, submitting materials does not transfer copyright ownership to SPI or automatically authorize SPI to publish them publicly.
Any intended publication, archival use, licensing, or broader distribution should be addressed through an appropriate permission or submission agreement.
9. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
Our website may contain links to external websites and services, including worldwide Sisters' houses, nonprofit partners, fundraising providers, social platforms, and historical resources.
These websites are operated independently and may have their own terms and privacy practices.
SPI is not responsible for the operation, availability, content, or security of independently controlled services.
Providing a link does not necessarily indicate endorsement or an official organizational relationship.
10. INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES AND ACCURACY
SPI makes reasonable efforts to maintain useful and accurate website information.
However, materials may contain omissions, errors, or information that has changed since publication.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, website content is provided for general informational, historical, educational, and community purposes.
Content concerning health, prevention, legal rights, or other specialized subjects is not a substitute for advice from appropriately qualified professionals.
11. WEBSITE AVAILABILITY
SPI may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue website features when reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, organizational operations, or other legitimate purposes.
We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access to every feature or external service.
12. DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its informational content are provided without warranties concerning uninterrupted availability, completeness, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.
SPI is not responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on information that visitors should independently verify or from failures of independently operated third-party services, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived.
13. PRIVACY
Our collection and handling of personal information are described in our Privacy Policy.
Our Cookie Policy provides additional information about cookies and similar technologies.
14. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by applicable laws of the State of California and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory legal protections require otherwise.
Disputes arising from website use will be subject to courts of competent jurisdiction, consistent with applicable law.
15. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
SPI may update these Terms as organizational practices, website functions, or applicable requirements change.
Revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
